Lakers Shutout the Sabercats

Watertown, WI (10.10.19) - The Lakers string together enough goals to pull away from the Sabercats to notch the first victory of the season by the score of 3-0.

How it Happened:

On a beautiful day for soccer, the Lakers faced off against the Sabercats of Maranatha Baptist University. The game was scoreless for most of the first half with both teams playing tight. It was not until seconds before halftime where Eric Gutierrez received a pass from Lucas Admire and connected on a 25ft strike to the upper right corner to put the Lakers in the driver's seat with a 1-0 lead going into halftime.

With the wind in their favor; the Lakers would put the ball in the back of the net after Joel Mejia would dribble around the defender and connect within four feet of the goal after the pass from Cesar Pineda in the 68th minute. Lakers would go on the defensive when up 2-0. Goalkeeper Isaiah Williams came up big with two monster reflection saves, batting the ball away to maintain the shutout. Lakers would seal the game with a third goal in the 78th minute when Wisner Fleurjean would connect from 35ft away from the goal to the upper right corner to put the Lakers up 3-0.
